Craft Textile Design

Textile craft which will be transformed into works of art will be realized to the fullest when through craft textile product manufacturing phase. Design is the first step in creating a work of art, and design a plan that will facilitate the achievement of goals or creating artwork. Thus the design can be interpreted as a draft drawing that will be conducted with the specific purpose of the arrangement in the form of lines, shapes, colors, and textures. Design can be applied to a variety of objects in our environment.

To obtain a product of good design requires a textile craft a plan in which there is unity among the materials used to the functions and types of objects are made, the complexity of the process which is a combination of a balanced, opposed, or contradictory that produces aesthetic value on the object.

A good design will show an orderly arrangement of the materials used to produce a beautiful object and can be used. In this case there are two kinds of design, the structural design (structural design) and decorative design (design decoration)

a. Structural Design (structural design)

Structural Design (structural design) is an arrangement of line, form, color, and texture of an object in the form of objects that have a space or a picture of an object. Example deesain structure: an overview of an object to be created equipped with caption size, color, and shape.

b. Decorative Design (garnitur)

Decorative Design (garnitur) is a touch / surface treatment given to clothing that provides visual effects beautify the appearance. Garnitur be as a decorative element / embellishment or as a functional element.

There are three ways in preparing decorative design, namely: By the color and pattern, dedtails By construction, decorative trims By. (In Mila Karmila Davis, 2006: 27)

  1. By the color and pattern, the colors and motifs that are arranged in a textile material in clothing, indirectly also serves as a decorative design.
  2. By construction details, which establish certain ornate detail on the clothing here is usually done by making stitches / setikan on fabric / textiles.
  3. By decorative trims, which is a technique that is usually a fabric patch on the surface of the fabric by adding other complementary elements on the surface of the fabric.

Manufacture of textile craft design is done by determining what type of object to be created (ornamental objects or objects used), making product design, make decorations on product design, preparing materials and tools as well as step craft textile manufacturing employment.
